Pink Elephant Cake
This cute Pink Elephant Cake was done for a baby shower of the same theme. The cake itself was fresh strawberry with vanilla cream cheese filling, and it was delicious! There sometimes is a little leftover batter when making cake orders, and I've found the best way to not waste any of it is make some cupcakes for myself. I tell myself it's quality assurance!
Angled Close Up of Elephant
I made the pink elephant topper entirely out of candy clay, and being so massive, it didn't require any supports and was completely edible... like a giant vanilla Tootsie Roll!
Frontal Close Up on Elephant
I used food coloring markers to add very fine, subtle features, like eyes and eyebrows.
Original Sketch
My original concept for this cake was a single tier 12" round cake with the elephant on top, however, in the end, the client decided on 10" and 6" tiers with the elephant topper. I'm glad we went that route because it really gave me an area to put the baby-to-be name in a more prominent location on the cake.
Baby Shower Invitation
I basically took the invitation for the party and turned it into a cake, which made my job a whole lot easier!
